SERVICE FIRST

One thing I know for sure is that we are created and designed to be of service. We are built for community, which means we all have a unique position to play that makes us an asset to the village. This is why it is important to make the first step of your entrepreneurial journey…being of service.

The journey of entrepreneurship will require you to learn new skills, solve problems, and overcome obstacles. And although none of this will be quick, it can be easier if you have a clear and defined focal point. That focal point will need to be WHO you are here to help. Yes, help. Yes, you are starting and/or building a business to make money, but money flows much easier when you are solving a problem…otherwise known as helping someone else. Service first mentality is about putting the person before the money. It's about putting the solution in front of the accolades and putting the impact in front of the ego.

Yet, don't be confused. I'm not telling you to undercharge and/or even worse offer your services for free. On the contrary, what you have to offer is so valuable and needed, I want you to charge a premium.

Charging premium rates becomes easier when you know the person you are designed to serve is in complete alignment with your divine assignment. Alignment means standards and expectations will not have to be enforced because they happen organically. Here are few reasons why Service First is a smart strategy:

1. Peace over Pressure:

Putting service at the forefront of your business will give your clients/customers space to make authentic decisions from a place of peace, instead of pressure.

2. Build Integrity:

Focusing on the person builds trust because your client/customer feels seen and more importantly heard versus being just another "sale."

3. Customer Service:

In today's world…good customer service is almost unheard of, meaning if you provide a truly memorable experience you are rare, wonderful, and worth investing with not just once, but again and again.

4. Relatable

Having a clear understanding of your client/customer's needs, wants, desires, and fears, not only makes your empathic and compassionate, but it makes you relatable. People buy from people they like.

Deciding to be an entrepreneur means you have also decided to be a leader. The type of leadership you choose to use will be solely up to you. As you are fully aware, leaders come in all shapes, sizes, and styles. Yet, the most memorable are those who make an impact, not by dictating, but by showing.

Excellent leaders don't become excellent by focusing on the bottom line. They become excellent by dedicating time to building those around them. They make an impact by sowing into character, quality, and the team.

Being of service first will elevate you faster than your competition because you are choosing to focus on the most important aspect of any business and any industry and that is…the people.

People make purchases. People develop strategies. And people offer feedback and insight…otherwise known as testimonials and word of mouth.

So if you want your business to grow steadily with a good reputation, then the best strategy is to…be of service FIRST and ALWAYS.
