How would your life and business be impacted if you were more creative, more innovative, and more productive? If you are like you me, then it would probably elevate everything in your life in an instant. However, if you are also like me, on any given day, you are bombarded with thoughts, ideas, and suggestions from yourself and as well as others.
From things as simple as what you are going to cook for dinner? What's the launch strategy for your new widget? Oh crap, it's your best friend's birthday, so don’t forget to order flowers! Make sure to leave some space for a date day. Oh and did you check that funnel to make sure the tech is running properly? Seriously, the list of "to-dos" is never-ending.
So then, if an overloaded mind is a problem, then there has to be a solution, so what is it? It's so simple, you probably won't believe me...
GET EVERYTHING OUT OF YOUR HEAD...AND PUT IT ON PAPER!
Let me explain why. Your mind is a POWERHOUSE and if you are using it to remember tasks, then you are using it incorrectly. Your mind is made to CREATE! But in order to create the mind needs space! That's why I’m huge on daily brain-dumping. Did you read that slowly? I said daily and here's why.
In order to stay innovative, you must be intentional about creating space to simply THINK. And it's not something that we are taught. Instead, we are taught to go, move, and do. When the better strategy is to plan for stillness, pray for clarity, and prepare your next steps.
So I already know what you are thinking, "where do I begin?"
First, do what I just said. Carve out time in EACH day for stillness and keep a journal nearby to allow the proper space for your mind to wander. Next determine the things that can be put on autopilot, such as repetitive tasks and go ahead and add them to your calendar. Then it's time to do the brain dump. Remember the brain dump does not have to be in any particular order. The purpose is to get it out of your head to free up creative space.
Once the brain dump is complete you should have a massive "to list" on paper.
But don't become overwhelmed. The goal is not to complete the entire list. The goal is to sort the list by importance and get them added to your calendar. And I promise you by just being intentional about making space to be innovative you will:
1. Have more clarity and a laser focus
2. You will reduce your own anxiety which will also lower your stress levels
3. You will be more equipped to track your progress
