SCALE FROM THE START

One of my superpowers is that I can start with the end. Let me explain. When I have or hear an idea, I envision the BIG picture, the finale, and it allows me to work backward and begin building the steps. This is a SUPER power because it also allows me to process information very quickly. Processing information quickly helps me cut through the clutter, realize what's missing, and see what is necessary to fill in the pieces.

Ironically, this is not a skill I was taught, but something I have always done instinctively. Sadly, I've spent years begging people to listen to me so they could understand my perspective. Yet, it would take several more years before I realized that I was wasting my time trying to convince when what I should be doing is packaging my GIFT into a service and SELL it!

Like most entrepreneurs, I started my business by selling my time by the hour. I started off doing done for your services because, to be honest, I was a control freak. Done for you didn't last long because, at my core, I'm a teacher. My soul is ignited by watching others receive the revelation of their purpose and then helping them design a strategy to reach their destiny. As I moved into coaching and consulting, I was fortunate to realize that one-to-one was not sustainable. One-to-one meant I could only service a certain amount of clients each week. One-to-one meant I was going to cap my salary. One-to-one meant I was creating a job when what I desired was to build a business.

And that's the golden question: Do you want to build a business or do you want to create a job for yourself. Yes, we all start off creating a job for ourselves because, in the beginning, we are everything from the custodian to the CEO. In the beginning, we are just fumbling through the day-to-day in survival mode. Yet, at some point, a decision has to be made about the future direction. Hence why when I ask my clients this question, it instantly becomes a trigger! And I'm okay with that because my goal is to make them THINK.

So let's say you are committed to building a business, then what are the steps to start doing it RIGHT NOW (even if you are just starting):

1. Form Your Framework (this is the foundation of everything).

2. Determine how many units you need to sell vs. your stretch goal then adjust your price points.

3. Figure out how to sell your products/services to more than one person at a time.

4. Build out your backend systems to help automate your processes.

5. Outsource, outsource, outsource…

Scaling is the only way to ensure you are working towards removing your hands from the day-to-day. And contrary to popular belief, you don't have to wait months or years to start scaling. It is something you can consider and implement from day one. If you have a vision, then you must TRUST that constructing it is possible.
