Resistance Blocks Blessings

It's no secret that I talk a lot about self-sabotage and the reason is because it's a process that kills so many dreams. I use the word process because I know that self-sabotage happens in a particular pattern, but that's for another day.

Today, I wanna focus on one piece in particular and that is RESISTANCE! By definition, resistance is simply the refusal to accept. And contrary to popular belief, the majority of us subconsciously struggle to accept our own greatness. Hence why we resist it when it attempts to come into our world.

The reason this happens is because our minds can only make decisions based on our past experiences. Meaning our mind's primary job is to keep us safe. Keeping us safe is NOT the same thing as transformation.

When you are trying to elevate to the next level of success, you will encounter new challenges and experiences that are unfamiliar to you. This is what activates the trigger of a fear response and causes you to RESIST change and here are three reasons why:

1. Fear of the Unknown:

This is the most dangerous because it keeps us within our comfort zone. To push through this resistance, it can be helpful to focus on the potential rewards of overcoming your fear, and to take small steps towards your goal, gradually building your confidence and stretching your level of comfort.

2. Limiting Beliefs:

Sometimes our own beliefs about ourselves and our abilities can hold us back from reaching our full potential. These limiting beliefs can create a sense of self-doubt and resistance to change. To push through this resistance, it can be helpful to challenge your limiting beliefs and seek out evidence that contradicts them. You can also work on building your self-confidence and self-efficacy through positive self-talk and affirmations.

3. Comfort with the Status Quo:

Sometimes we resist change simply because we are comfortable with the way things are. We may feel like we have achieved a certain level of success and are hesitant to disrupt that status quo. In your comfort zone is where you begin to doubt your abilities and potential. These limiting beliefs also create a pathway for resistance to take over.

In order to get on the other side of resistance, you will have to become self-aware. You will have to extend yourself compassion. You have to be willing to take risks in order to embrace the necessary changes. Once you do, you will begin to see the blessings that you've been unconsciously blocking.

Blessings like self-confidence. With confidence comes new self-talk, new ideas, new motivation, new invitations to new opportunities and the list goes on and on. And here’s the best blessing that comes from learning to push past resistance, you learn how to develop the habit of seeing failures as lessons instead of an ending.
