PERFECT WON'T WORK...

Updated: Jun 1, 2021

Wanna know the quickest way to kill your vision???

Perfectionism!!!

Yep, I've seen more visions and destinies disappear into thin air because people are so consumed with making and/or being perfect that they never start, build, or elevate to the next level. there is one strategy that the majority of people miss and that EVERYONE can easily implement. Perfectionism is counterproductive because by definition it requires a constant overly critical evaluation of the self. Being overly critical leads to anxiety, depression, and the diminishing of your quality of life.

Your quality of life diminishes because you are attempting unrealistic expectations. Unreal equals unattainable. Unattainable means unachievable and unachievable leads to unmet dreams and desires. And even worse…this is not a moment in time…perfectionism becomes a toxic cycle. But don't fret. I have a simple process/strategy for breaking out of this insane pattern:

1. Exchange worry for Doing:

Worry is NOT an action. This means using your time and energy to run countless endings/outcomes around in your mind over and over again is a waste because it does not move you forward. It keeps you stuck.

2. Focus on Excellence:

Perfect does not exist. Yet, you can set and maintain a level of excellence based on your personal and professional standards.

3. Set and adhere to deadlines:

Putting a time limit on tasks/assignments gives you boundaries as well as an end date. An end date will keep you from procrastinating as well as you get things done and you feel accomplished.

4. Keep Refining:

Part of growth is learning how to refine throughout the process. The key is to refine for the sake of quality control as well as elevation.

5. Move Forward:

You are going to make mistakes. The key is to not allow mistakes to hinder your progress. Fail, learn, and move on to the next thing quickly.

Let go of perfectionism and you will immediately release self-doubt, fear, and burnout. Releasing these condemning mindsets will shift your perspective and you will begin seeing opportunities instead of overwhelming and paralyzing obstacles. This new shift in perspective will also lead to innovation, confidence, and a newfound focus.

This newfound innovation, confidence, and focus will give you what perfectionism attempts to steal from you…A new boost of energy and excitement to start, build, and elevate the life you envision!
