"I'm stuck. I don't know what to do." It's the answer I get on EVERY Creative Conversation when I ask my first question of…"tell me what's going on." And here's the TRUTH, we all KNOW exactly what we need and want to do. The issue is that we are stuck in indecisiveness. Indecisiveness holds more dreams hostage than fear. Read that again…

Most people struggle to make decisions because they are afraid of making the wrong decision. When the better strategy is to make the best decision at the moment, see what happens, and work the kinks out as you go. Why? Because there is no perfect decision. Even if you make the absolute best decision, things can always fall apart, go left, or blow up in your face! Why? Because you cannot control everything. And if you allow yourself to never make a move, then you will never go beyond where you are. YIKES!

Indecisiveness is like an angry terrorist holding your dreams hostage. Yet, all you gotta do to get your dream back is make a move. Not a huge move, just a move. Not an impossible move, just a move. Not a life-altering move, just a move. The movement will create momentum and momentum will give you new energy. And that energy will remind you of your vision and that vision will keep you excited. And I don't know about you, but when I'm excited about something it makes the hard easier. Take note, I said easier…not easy.

So then HOW do you get good at making a decision and taking action on it?

1. Stop overthinking:

The mind can be a beautiful and/or scary place depending on how you use it. Your mind can create a story of optimism and endless possibilities or a story of negativity and instability. The choice is yours because the greatest power we have is to choose our thoughts.

2. Trust your instincts:

Your gut (spirit) knows what is best. The problem is we have been told not to trust it because we can't explain and/or prove why we feel what we feel. You don't have to see it to believe it.

3. Focus on the outcome, not the path:

Here's a revelation that will change the game. Your path will NOT be straight. The path is forever changing because you will be constantly growing. There will be construction, detours, and road closures and this is why you must keep your focus on the outcome you desire, not the path itself.

I’ll leave you with this…The better and quicker you become at making decisions, the quicker you will elevate and increase your prosperity. Leadership is not about being perfect, doing everything right, and never making a mistake. Leadership is about taking risks, failing forward, and learning the lessons. And if you are going to be an entrepreneur, then make no mistake, you are have also signed a contract to be a leader.
